Overnight Oats

Overnight Oats

Overnight Oats can be a game-changer at breakfast times. It’s a healthy recipe with many delicious combinations and a grab and goes solution for busy mornings. Eat it cold or warm it up. Either way, it’s delicious.

Overnight oats are a delicious and healthy breakfast option that can be prepared the night before. This meal is not only easy to make, but it also provides a great source of nutrition to start your day off right.

To make overnight oats, all you need is rolled oats, milk (or a dairy-free alternative), and your choice of sweetener or toppings. Simply mix these ingredients together in a jar or container, and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

By morning, the oats will have absorbed all the liquid and become soft and creamy. Overnight oats are incredibly versatile and can be customized to your taste preferences. You can add in fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, or even spices like cinnamon or nutmeg. The possibilities are endless!

Not only are overnight oats delicious, but they also offer a number of health benefits. They're a great source of fiber, which helps keep you full and satisfied throughout the morning. They also contain complex carbohydrates, which provide sustained energy to fuel your day.

In addition to being a great breakfast option, overnight oats are also a convenient meal prep option. You can prepare multiple servings at once, and have breakfast ready to go for the entire week. If you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast option that's both tasty and nutritious, give overnight oats a try!

Ingredients for Base Recipe:

1/2 cup of rolled oats

1/2 cup of milk of choice

1/2 tbsp. chia seeds or flax seeds

1 tbsp. sweetener (optional)

Method:

Place the ingredients in a container and stir with a spoon.

Ensure you have mixed it well.

Cover the container with a lid or wrap and place it in the fridge overnight.

The next day, open the container and enjoy it as it is or add your desired toppings!

Additional Notes:

Make sure to add more liquid as needed if oats are too thick.

These will keep in a fridge for up to 5 days, but I enjoy eating them within 3 days of making them.

Why not try the following combinations?

Berry Delight - add 1/2 cup of berries to the mix either overnight or in the morning.

Caffeine Hit - add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee to the base recipe or a shot of espresso. Why not add a few nuts and perhaps an extra teaspoon or two of sweetener.

Apple pie - add a chopped apple and some cinnamon to the mix with some nuts of choice. Either add to the base mixture or add as a topping in the morning.

Tropical Sunshine - add some coconut, tropical fruit such as mango, banana, papaya and some yoghurt. Mix and enjoy.

Peanut Butter Combo - add peanut butter of choice with your favourite combination. Do you like fruit, chocolate or nuts? Try all and see what you prefer.

Chocolate Indulgence - a favourite of my children. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of cacao powder to the base mixture. In the morning, taste and add more sweetener if required. Top with some yoghurt, nuts, berries or even some more chocolate!

It can be quite frightening when you first find out you have to change the way you eat but for some of us' Food is our medicine.'

I have several websites, write blogs, and I'm currently in the process of writing a book.

I trained to be Holistic Health Coach, Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and Certified Gluten Free Practitioner in order to heal myself, my family and others who find themselves on the same journey as myself.

Photography

Our love for photography started on our travels. We wanted to capture images of the areas we travelled to both for our own records and for our family back at home. Some of these images were reproduced as watercolours. Our favourite images we display at home and friends often asked where we had purchased the pictures! Now you can purchase them online directly from us.
